It'll be stephanie's birthday on 24th. Mabel, Kitty and I (auntie rashida flew aeroplane again) gave her a surprise birthday celebration last night. We've bought a Hello Kitty (die-cut head shaped) cake for her and a Hello Kitty Gift Set from Sanrio. The gift box includes coloring pencils, pens, books, pencil sharpener, name tag holder etc... She was very exciting and eager to put things into her new pencil case that Mama bought her, preparing for primary 1 in Sep...

I haven't visit Natalie since her baptism months ago. She has grown a lot and big sis Stephanie like kissing her a lot. Baby Natalie is a very sweet baby girl, smile a lot (and mama said she doesn't cry much).

Taipei Trip

went to taipei with KG1A friends last weekend, we've stayed first night at Spring Resorts at Beitou. The next morning, we went to Villa 32. It's very value for money. For TWN$2500, you can enjoy 4-hr hotspring plus an italian set lunch. There are 6 different pools plus a cold one. We've chit chat, going from 1 pool to another.. then relaxing at the lounge area eating complimentary apple / tea. Wanny even went for a quick nap at the sleeping area.

La Ballon Rouge

IFC celebrated it's anniversary in 2008 by showing "modern classics". I've got free tickets to the Premier and invited Ashley and Garro to go together. Ashley picked La Ballon Rouge/White Main, unforuntately she wasn't able to leave work...

This is actually 2 short films. The first one is La Ballon Rouge was made in 1956 in France by Albert Lamorisse. The thirty-four minute short film, which follows the adventures of a young boy who one day finds a sentient, mute, red balloon, was filmed in the Ménilmontant neighborhood of Paris, France.
It won numerous awards when released in its day, including an Oscar for Lamorisse for writing the best original screenplay in 1956 and the Palme d'Or for short films at Cannes.

Albert Lamorisse used his children as actors in the film. His son, Pascal Lamorisse, plays Pascal in the main role, and his daughter Sabine portrays a little girl.

It's a colored movie in 1957 about an adventure of the little boy with the red balloon.. and at the end... balloongs save him from those bad kids...

The 2nd one is boring to me... we should have watched Blow Up...

Paulinians Dinner Gathering

We have a dinner gathering at Irori酒處 with Winnie Ho, Pessy Yu, me, Wendy K, Pat, Maria, Phoenix, Wendy S, Vicky and Wanny. You can imagine 10 gals talking at the same time, we were so loud that even though we're already in a private room, people sitting outside could hear us (esp the couple who sit right in front of the room). Great recommendation by Winnie and Pessy. The food were great, eg 胡麻蕃茄沙律, 南瓜沙律, sushi/sashimi platter,池魚, sake and some other yakitori. I heard the ox tongue is also good but I haven't tried myself.

Fortunately with iPhone, we're able to refer to our class photos (via FB) and recall other classmates. I think we've located over 50% of P6B.. Among the 10 of us, 6 of us were classmates since Kindergarten KG1A.. haha..

Another Paulinians gathering in Macau. This year we have Grace, Sara, Wanny, Phoenix, Pat and me. Pat is back to HK. She is now doing a meaningful job by teaching in UNESCO office located in Seoul. She teach about the mission of UNESCO to korean students age 11- 13 in simple English.

Let's arrange a trip to visit her before her contract ends in Nov...

(CNN) -- Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States and the nation's first African-American president Tuesday. This is a transcript of his prepared speech.

In his speech Tuesday, President Obama said America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

My fellow citizens:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebearers, and true to our founding documents.
So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land -- a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met.
On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions -- that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.
For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act -- not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account -- to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day -- because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control -- and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart -- not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: Know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort -- even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. another x'mas gathering, our annual hot pot gathering at Zoe's home. Every year, Zoe will asked us to buy our own ornament and Tess/Meagan will picked the one they like, the lucky person will get a gift from Zoe. This year the color theme is green & gold.

I've found a Snowman Snow Globe in green color (from MoMa), available at Homeless and won one of the price! Also, Tess is learning chinese painting and we can pick one of her work as a gift.. This is the one I've picked. ... very nice..

My first x'mas gathering dinner with the girls: Mabel, Rashida, Cathryn & stephanie and Kitty at La Pain Grille at IFC.. The venue is very nice with it's French style decoration. I think it would be nice to be there for a lunch or afternoon tea, as they have balcony seats facing the harbour.

Good to catch up as the 4 of us haven't met for a few months : Cathryn talked about her trip to Japan with Christel to watch SMAP concert (I just knew Christel has ALL SMAP CDs until now)... Rashida has brought us x'mas gifts from Agnes b pattiserie... choco with this lovely bear..

finally paid a visit to Petit Morpho - a little shop which sells handmade items - during a sunday.. (lucky me, they've opened on last Sat & Sun in Nov). I wasn't into these rubber stamps for a long time... recently, when read about this shop, I like them very much.

They are actually opening during Dec 15-24, everyday from 12pm-7pm..

Happy Thanks Giving!

Dad has planned to go out for dinner to celebrate thanksgiving.. (why celebrating thanksgiving? just an excuse to eat outside, or cos he lived in San Francisco for 0ver 10 years and that's why he celebrates thanksgiving and love american football and basketball).

I ended up queuing up at a Sale with my colleauge for an hour and was late for dinner.. Luckily my dad & mom wasn't mad. What's made me a bad person is in order not to be "too late" for dinner (which I'm already 1/2hr late), I picked what I want, and left them with my colleauge, whom has ended up queuing for another hour to pay.

Sadao Watanabe is back to HK after 7 years. Went to his concert on Wed.. wonder if this will be better if it's held at Cultural Centre.

I enjoyed going to concert (jazz, piano or cell0) once in a while, especially amazed by those talented musician. They're so passionate about what they are doing; and yes, you just need to be focused and you will be expert in that area. Why do kids in HK have to learn so many skills?

Over the weekend, we've tried a recently popular Tonkatsu restaurant in Causeway Bay. My dad & mom love this but it's always has long queue on the weekends. Heard about this newer one recently - Butagumi - which accept advance booking and therefore don't have to queue up at all... taste is as good and price is also similar... worth going again.

Company has sponsored "Dine With Stars" organised by Hong Kong Tourism Board. I have to be responsible for "my" table, that is inviting business partners.. Also, since it's a black tie event, all of us need to be dressed up.. Geoff Wong and Rabea are the MCs. Since I have to busy chatting with partners, while sneaking where are the celebs... I saw 2 beautiful ladies - Chiu Ngar Chi (& husband) and So Yuk Wah. Both are elegant and with beautiful skins. The presenting of awards are boring.. and luckily, there are some good food to enjoy.

Dad participated in a charity walk organised by Diabetes Hong Kong through Tung Wah Eastern hospital. Tung Wah Eastern Hospital has turned it to a 1/2 day trip: arranged a bus to pick them up to The Peak, where the 1-hr walk will start. Then they went to Stanley and visited the "jail" and sight seeing.

I have suggested to bring mom to lunch at stanley so we can pick up Dad after his "trip". Mom and I randomly picked this rest and ordered Salad and pasta with chicken fillet.

After the lunch, I brought them to Jenny's bakery and bought a box of cookies.... really yummy, and Dad was already enjoying this as his tea time snack.

don't felt like just sitting on the sofa last sat, so I went to swim .. Unfortunately, the goggles was too old, so when I tried to put on, the 2 sides were broken.. I have already changed but I can't swim without a pair of goggles wor.. but considering I have already paid the entrance fee, got changed and standing on the staircase to the swimming pool already... I have to swim without goggles... which means I can only swim breaststroke or backstroke. I am very lazy and disappointed, so only stayed there for 30mins..

Since it's featured in the Programme, I think it's fair to both little girl already. This is, again, the Press (esp US) pinpointing to China.. whatever China do, they will create an angle to complaint.

發覺網上也有些青年怒駡北京奧運開幕時"咪嘴"及"電腦腳印烟花"的「造假」, 覺得感情被騙云云, 中國愛面子不知所謂...(又發覺部份青年又是那些不支持北京辦奧運的人..........人, 果然是奇妙.......)作為過氣電視製作人, 實在不得不出聲。其實看現場直播時已知那不是小妹妹現場唱的。嘴型不夾; 聲線的感情投入跟現場表演那妹妹的輕鬆甜美笑容表情又不配合; 經電視聽到的歌聲很空洞, 應該是經過處理的不是現場收音...... 當然我不知道是由另一位小妹妹唱的(anyway, 這點對我來說毫不重要, 沒有深究)。就是"幕後代唱", 我也不覺是問題。因為這個奧運開幕是一場show, 跟其他show一樣, 總不會很傻很天真以為眼見耳聽的一切是現實吧? 真的不能分辦不出來嗎?若有人覺得這樣也算被騙了, 而這刻才發覺...... sorry, 你已被騙了很多次而又懵然不知。

無論"幕前演出"及"幕後代唱", 兩位小妹妹的名字也是印了在場刊上。

There was an Amex bowling day at Olympian City 2 weekend ago. Our Team is Lane11, the 8th (out of 13th). Luckily we got Gregg in the team, or else, we will be worse. Haha.. A bit disappointed to my own result. I should get better la, the problem is haven't played for a long time. Can't even hold a 9lb bowling ball steadily. My dad was very good gar, he formed a team with his friends from university and played in competition in HKSCA years ago (but that was years ago.. heehee)..

Taking 1/2 day off in the middle of the week is perfect. Haven't been to soho area, tried a lunch at GBU, tried The Italian Job burger - 100% grass fed new zealand angus beef with italian mozzarella , pesto basilico, roasted garlic aioli, tomato, onion, and mixed baby green. The only one bad thing about this store is the ventilation is so bad, that I felt like I'm the one peeling the onions.

This is a picture taken in Shek O with P6B folks. For some reason, SPCS doesn't have any outings since we were in KG. We were so happy and sad -for most of us, we've been together since KG1, we know some of us will be leaving Hong Kong after the summer break. For those who stayed, we don't know if we would be in the same class anymore. Looking at the pictures in FB, what's good is most of us look much the same as we were young.. We were so excited during a lunch which Maria, Sara and Pessy sat in front of us.. they were my little "brothers"... always fighting, playing together.. now Pessy is already a mom... Maria married, Sara still look exactly the same ...how can she has no wrinkle by working in a stressful industry? Diana, Pat, Wendy S and Nancy are living in Vancouver, Toronto, Shanghai and New Jersey...

Kitty, Mabel and I visited Cathryn and Stephanie the other day...While Cathryn mama was cooking, I have nothing to do but to take pictures with Stephanie... she was playing with her pair of glasses,, when I said let's take a pic, she automatically do this pose! She is really the only kid who is so proactive, so out going, like talking to different people, no need to "warm up" like most other babies.. she can entertain everyone ... (Pls note little sis Natalie is trying to sleep after milk time). Pls also note she wore an apron cos she said she worry the oil will spit on her dress.. after wearing the apron, she actually stays in the dining room.. and no where near the kitchen..
