La Ballon Rouge

IFC celebrated it's anniversary in 2008 by showing "modern classics". I've got free tickets to the Premier and invited Ashley and Garro to go together. Ashley picked La Ballon Rouge/White Main, unforuntately she wasn't able to leave work...
This is actually 2 short films. The first one is La Ballon Rouge was made in 1956 in France by Albert Lamorisse. The thirty-four minute short film, which follows the adventures of a young boy who one day finds a sentient, mute, red balloon, was filmed in the Ménilmontant neighborhood of Paris, France.
It won numerous awards when released in its day, including an Oscar for Lamorisse for writing the best original screenplay in 1956 and the Palme d'Or for short films at Cannes.

Albert Lamorisse used his children as actors in the film. His son, Pascal Lamorisse, plays Pascal in the main role, and his daughter Sabine portrays a little girl.
It's a colored movie in 1957 about an adventure of the little boy with the red balloon.. and at the end... balloongs save him from those bad kids...
The 2nd one is boring to me... we should have watched Blow Up...

Post!

This is one of the last animation that we watched. This is the one that I liked most.. It's called "Post!"- a postman delivered the substitutes letter, he is supposed to deliver, with those he wrote.. This makes every happy but not his boss. The drawing is so detailed.. you see under-arm "momo" on the fat mom on the right? so cute.

情書(ラヴレター)

I really love this movie.. I have watched so many times that I have lost count already.. twice in movie theatre.. Remembered it was on Arts Centre for consecutive 8months (or more)? watching and watching, crying and crying.. again, you will never understand until the very end of the story.. 元気ですか?

Atonement

Talking about movie.. here it's another movie that I liked - Atonement - it's a novel written by Ian McEwan. The movie is divided into four parts and when I thought the movie is about to finish, the fourth part began and I was very surprised about the ending. Now, i'm reading Ian McEwan another novel - On Chesil Sea.

Wall E

Earning an extra day off on Wed due to Typhoon Number 8.. let's go watch Wall-E.. a very touching story.. Wall E is the only one still truly living. And what is the ultimate purpose of living? To Love.
Wall E stands for:
W-waste
A - allocation
L - load
L - lifter
E - earth-class
Eve stands for: Extraterrestrial Vegatation Evaluator
This movie is dedicated to Justin Wright, a Pixar animator who have worked for Ratatouille and died of a heart attack before the movie release.

International Short Film Festival

I've picked 4 programme to watch. The first was was "If You Were Me: Anima Vision 2" - this animation project includes 6 episodes about homosexuals, the disabled, a working mother and her baby, the macho complex of men, valuing too much on appearances and migrant women issues.
(1) The Third Wish (2) Peeling (3) Baby (4) Merry Golasmas (5) Shine Shine Shining (6) Lies. All of them are done by notable animators in South Korea. All of them are very touching & meaningful. After all, we're living in a materialistic world
